Road planings removal & haulage

Off the machine, out of the lane, and away to a licensed facility — with the transfer note in your inbox the same day.

Codes carried

  • 17 03 02 Bituminous mixtures
  • 17 03 01 Coal tar — segregated
  • Upper-tier carrier CBDU484358

The service

We are the half of the job nobody notices until it goes wrong

A planing crew is only as quick as the wagons behind it. If the tipper isn't under the conveyor when the machine is cutting, the machine stops — and a stopped machine on a closed carriageway costs a great deal more than the haulage does.

Naidu & Co run 8×4 rigid tippers on continuous shuttle so your milling machine keeps cutting. We take the planings straight off the conveyor, clear the lane, and run them to a recycling facility or wherever you have specified — then send the conveyance and transfer note back the same day.

What we handle

  • Planing campaigns — carriageway, estate road and car park resurfacing, single shift or multi-week programmes.
  • Deep excavation and reconstruction — full-depth removal where the whole build-up comes out.
  • Fine milling and retexturing arisings — smaller volumes, tighter windows.
  • Coal tar arisings — where testing shows 17 03 01, the load is segregated and routed to a permitted facility, never mixed with clean planings.

Why contractors keep the number

  • Night work is normal. Most planing happens under closure between 8pm and 6am. We plan around that rather than charging a premium for it.
  • The paperwork is right first time. Correct EWC code, waste hierarchy declaration, disposal ticket number, and gross/tare/net where the tip weighs.
  • One number, one yard. You speak to the person who moves the trucks, not a call centre.
  • Back-haul pricing. If we are clearing planings from you and delivering Type 1 back in, you should not be paying full rate both ways.

Planings come back out as a material

Recycled planings are a legitimate sub-base and surfacing material, not just waste to be buried. Where the arisings are clean we can route them to recycling and supply screened planings back to you for tracks, hardstandings, farm roads and temporary haul routes — usually at a fraction of the cost of virgin aggregate, and it keeps the material out of landfill.

How a job runs

  1. Tell us the site postcode, the material and the volume. A rough tonnage or a number of loads is enough to start.
  2. We come back with an indicative price — per load, per day, or on contract mileage for longer programmes.
  3. We agree the window. Start time, closure times, banksman arrangements, and what happens if the machine breaks down.
  4. Trucks arrive and shuttle. Sheeted and weighed on every load.
  5. Paperwork follows the same day — transfer notes and tickets, so your file is complete before anyone asks for it.

Common questions

How much does road planings removal cost?

It depends on three things: how far the site is from the tip, how many loads you need, and whether the material is clean planings or coal-tar bound. Send a postcode and a rough tonnage and we will give you an indicative figure — typically within half an hour on a weekday.

How many tonnes fit in one load?

An 8×4 rigid tipper carries roughly 20 tonnes of planings per load, subject to plated weight and how the material is loaded. On a continuous shuttle we size the number of trucks to the output of your machine so the cut never has to stop.

What happens if the planings contain coal tar?

Coal-tar bound material is classified hazardous under EWC 17 03 01 and cannot go to an ordinary inert facility. It has to be tested, declared and routed to a permitted site. We carry it under our upper-tier registration and keep it entirely separate from clean 17 03 02 arisings.

Can you work nights and weekends?

Yes. Most planing work in the South East happens under overnight closure, so night shifts, weekend possessions and early starts are routine rather than an exception.

Which areas do you cover?

We are based in Crawley, minutes from the M23. Crawley, Gatwick, Horsham, East Grinstead, Redhill, Reigate, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Brighton, Dorking, Croydon and South London are all comfortably within reach. Longer runs across the South East are quoted on the day — just ask.

What you get back

A complete file, not a pile of receipts

  • Conveyance / transfer note per load, quoting the correct EWC code.
  • Weighbridge ticket with gross, tare and net where the facility weighs.
  • Disposal / material ticket number so the load can be traced end to end.
  • Waste hierarchy declaration under Regulation 12 of the Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011.
  • Day work and waiting time itemised separately and agreed before it is charged.

Machine cutting next week?

Tell us the closure dates and the expected tonnage and we will hold the trucks. Late notice is usually fine — ring and ask.
